Lloydminster, Alberta
In April, 1903 with the arrival of the Barr colonists, approximately 2600 people from England settled in the Lloydminster area. It was named in honor of the man who led the colonists, Rev. Lloyd. The word Minster means "mother church".
As Canada's only border city, Lloydminster was located on the 4th Meridian in the Northwest Territories, it was divided in two in 1905 when Alberta and Saskatchewan's boundary was selected at the 4th Meridian. Alberta incorporated it as a village July 6th 1906, and Saskatchewan incorporated it as a town in April 1907.
Today, Lloydminster is proud of their unique city and surrounding region, their facilities and the hospitality make visitors feel welcome. During your visit to Lloydminster take time to enjoy all that they have to offer.
The many lakes, campgrounds, and golf courses, as well as the Barr Colony Heritage Cultural Center, and the Bud Miller All Seasons Park will give you plenty to do and see.
